Thank you for your interest in selling your cross stitch patterns through Cross Stitch Addicts.

Unlike most web sites who sell patterns for designers, our site is not designed to make a profit for the owners of Cross Stitch Addicts. Most web sites charge a commission on each sale a designer makes. The percentage taken from the sale price of a designers pattern differs greatly depending on which site you are dealing with.

Comparing our site, to other sites
Most sites charge the designer a commission on each sale they make. If you sold patterns valued at $20.00, the first thing the distributor does is deduct the charges PayPal takes from the sale and/or credit card processing fees. Then they take their own commission from what is left.

Before I go further I must add that we will deduct the fee PayPal charges us for all sales.
Let's say you make a $20.00 sale. The PayPal fee on a $20.00 sale at the time of writing this text was 88 cents. This means your total is now $19.12. The web site then takes it commission which we'll say is 60% which will be approximately $11.47, the designer will be paid $7.65 on a $20.00 sale.
If the web site's commission is 15%, which will be approximately $2.80. The designer will be paid $16.32 on her $20.00 sale. Not bad, but we can do better!

We don't take any commission from sales you make. We do deduct the fee PayPal charges us on each sale. By selling through our site, on a $20.00 sale, you will be paid $19.12.

The amount deducted for each transaction can change. If we sell one of your patterns and that is the only pattern in that sale, you pay the full deduction fee which could be around 40 cents. If we make a sale that has five patterns by three different designers, your deduction fee will be less. As an example let's say the sale was for $30.00. The PayPal deduction fee at the time of writing this is $1.40. so we divide $1.40 by five (5 patterns sold) which is 28 cents for each pattern. If you sold one pattern in that five, your PayPal deduction fee is only 28 cents. So if your pattern price is $3.99 you will be paid $3.71. We do not take any profit for ourselves whatsoever.

There must be a catch!
I hear you saying "There must be a catch!" There is! We ask all designers to pay a yearly fee of $6.00 to help cover our domain and hosting bills. This is not a lot to ask. If you had to pay a 15% commission on each $20.00 sale you made, their fee would be $5.60 on just two sales. We are asking you to pay a $6.00 fee for an entire year.

Payments to designers. We, or more specifically Donna (from Stitch A Painting) will send your payments through PayPal on the 7th each month.
Each time you make a sale, we notify you by email of the sale. We supply the full name of the buyer, their email address and the name of the pattern(s) sold for your records.

We do have a limit on pattern PDF file sizes. We do not accept files that are larger than 500 KB per pattern.

All patterns submitted to us are subject to approval before they will be added to the site.
